Healthy Food For The Future.20.10.21
This year we’re celebrating International Chefs Day with the theme being: ‘Healthy Food For The Future ‘. Through this, chefs are spreading the message about the impact the consumption & production of food has across the world.
In March of 2021, the UK Parliament released important information about food waste in the nation. According to the most recent report by the charity Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), the UK produced around 9.5 million tonnes of food waste in 2018.
Further, WRAP estimated that this waste had a value of over £19 billion a year and would be associated with more than 25 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. It has been said that of this waste, 6.4 million tonnes could have been eaten; the equivalent of over 15 billion meals (UK Parliament, House of Lords Library).
We have taken a personal interest in reducing as much food waste as possible while creating innovative 100% recyclable packaging and minimal carbon delivery emission. To get a comprehensive view of KBK we’ve gathered the most important topics that we focus on to ensure everyone can have access to quality food without damaging the environment.
- Eco-Friendly Package
One of the things KBK is widely proud of is the 100% recyclable packaging, which has 95% less plastic than our previous packaging. Completely BPA-free, (a chemical found in plastics that can permeate into food/drinks) that keeps ingredients fresh and unharmed.
Plastic containers have been swapped for paper bags, making every container biodegradable and fine for recycling.
- Locally-Sourced Food
Food production is responsible for a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global warming, according to a University of Oxford study. To reduce our carbon footprint, we source all of our ingredients locally from approved farms, as well using seasonal produce when possible. Our chefs spend a significant amount of time creating the menus and finding quality ingredients to deliver our healthy prepared meals.
We believe everyone has the right to get high-quality nutritious food to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle without having to damage the Earth in the process.
- Healthy Meal Prep
Educating customers about the food they consume as well as explaining where it comes from, how it gets to their table, and why they should invest in sustainable companies are three key elements that we thrive on. We create more than just healthy meals, we care about nutrition and fitness along with keeping the Earth as clean as possible.
Sustainability goes beyond reducing plastic, it includes decreasing the amount of food waste produced in the nation along with teaching about the importance of eating clean without creating more damage to the planet.
We are far from done with these tasks. By providing affordable healthy meals and several options such as our non-subscription service and our taster plan, we’re taking meal-prepping one step further.
We care about our customers and their situations, that’s why we offer low-cost, low calorie meal prep that can be enjoyed by anyone interested in turning their lives in a healthier direction while taking care of the environment.
